I find that often, when I paste online content into MS Word, that the font is not Times New Roman, which I like. When I see that its not TNR, I usually find myself blocking the new text and making the change. Apart from using Edit/Paste Special/Unformatted Text, is there a way to make sure that any text I paste into an MS Word doc will be Times New Roman? I'd prefer a global solution that would work for all MS docs, but I could live with a work-around that would apply to only the current doc.

TNR is of course the default font, but that doesn't make text that is pasted onto a doc, TNR. I'm sure I've seen an option to allow/disallow the original font in pasted text, but I forget where I saw it, or even if what I saw really did pertain to this need of mine.

EDIT: as a corollary or substitute in case the above question can't be answered--is there a way I can simply block out text and remove the formatting (hyperlinks, color and style of font, bold and underlining, etc.) of that text, without having to click on all the respective buttons for those items?

When you copy from the internet you are also coping the font..Not much you can do there..

You can paste to notepad first and loose alot of the stuff you copied from the internet. Then copy that and paste into Word.

Steve, I was hoping there was a single-click way to go about it. Going to Edit/Paste Special/Unformatted Text seems quicker than opening up notepad. Thanks anyways, though.

    Copy & Paste

    I don't know if this will help but . . .

I edit a monthly newsletter and I get a lot of my info via e-mail. Since I bought a new computer and started using MS Office 2003, I couldn't get anything to "paste" without getting a lot of "extra and unwanted" text boxes in my publication. Half of the boxes were "MT "!! When I copied text from an e-mail and tried to paste it, I was getting a bunch of "junk" that I didn't want. Scheeesh  !!

After talking to some other folks over a period of 4 days, I found that I could copy whatever was in my e-mail and "special paste" it into my previously-built "form" in Publisher. Not only was I able to "paste" what I had copied into the form but it would show up in the correct font and font size that I had designated in the original publication. A big guess is that it will work in MS Word, as well.

I'm guessing that one of the secrets is having a "form" built to paste your text in to. I may be wrong because I'm still learning this latest edition of M$ Office. And, honestly, when compared to Office 2000, I find that it's a pain in the arse!! Good luck. I'm still !! But, I'm learning.

    HTH!! :)

    Mike

    GOOD LUCK!!

Mike, that's something I will look into. Often I'm copying/pasting information at scattered intervals throughout my Word documents, so I couldn't simply create a special document that I'd use--I'm trying to get it to be teh default behavior of Word itself, but I will look up forms in their help and see what I can do with this. Thanks.

As has been said, what you paste is in the font used by the source.
It is a nuisance, but once pasted, you can highlight the pasted part and change the font to what you want.

OK. It seems like something that could be done easily enough, but then again, I don't build computer or design the programs.... :)
