    Right, awkward problem.

It started off with my keyboard not working, it what happened was it would work till i pressed a button, then it would seem the usb port blocked out all types of keyboard, even ps/2, this is not a keyboard problem.

I could swap the usb plug around and it would eventually work when it, for some reason didn't "block" the port, though i only get 6 tries from my 6 usb ports. 2 used by headset and mouse.

Just recently, today to be more exact it blocks out all my ports from my keyboard, and makes the "duh duh duh duh" windows sound when you get an erronous usb connection(?)

I would format and reinstall windows and see if it fixes it, but I don't know exactly where my xp cd is, so I can't really, I come here in search of a solution :)

    Thanks.

Go to Device Manager and uninstall everything listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When you reboot, they should all be reinstalled automatically if you had a good set of drivers installed originally. If the New Hardware wizard runs at reboot and cannot find the drivers you probably need to update your chipset drivers (look up your model of your motherboard or system at the manufacturer's website). Finding an updated version of the chipset drivers would be prudent in any case.
