    Hey everyone,
    Odd question here.

Is there any way to have Excel automatically assign a sort of position or number based on where it is in an order of other numbers?

    Say I have: 25%, 73%, 49%

    Now I want it to assign a 1 (or 1st) to the 73%, then a 2 to the 49% and 3 to the 25%.

Does Excel do anything like this, or will I just have to manually compare and assign the numbers?

    Thanks all!

I don't use Excel, but in Lotus 123 the @Rank function will do what you want.
@RANK(item;range;[order]) calculates the relative size or position of a value in a range relative to other values in the range.

Look in the Excel help text and see if Excel has a Rank function also.
