    hi there

i recently had to reinstall windows and performed a backup using the windows backup utility wizard. now when i go to restore the files, everything seems to go fine until i try to access the restored files. then i get an error message saying access is denied. it won't even let me delete them.

i'm using an account with administrative privilege. what am i doing wrong?
    thanks

The files were copied to a CD?
The files were copied to Tape?
The files were copied to a hard disk?

You did a Full State backup?
You did a backup of a user profile(s) only?

You use the encrpted file system for some of the files backed up?

You were the user who ran NTBACKUP to make the database?

You are a local Administrator on the machine you want to restore to?

Is the machine in a Domain?

Are you a member of the Backup Operators Group?

Does your error message include an error number?

the copies are on an external drive. i did a full state backup on one partition and just documents and settings on another. i can't access files that have supposedly been restored from either.

i don't know anything about encrypted backup. i went to the backup wizard in system tool and followed the instructions. don't remember seeing anything about encryption.

it's just a plain old home office computer. i'm the administrator, there's only one machine and i'm basically the only person who uses it. there's no error number, just the generic cannot delete: access is denied

    thanks
    deanna
