Is there a global deltion command, maybe on the DOS level?

I have deleted about 1,000 "axel.dav "'s, and have over 4,000 more to go. I did a "live chat" with an HP Tech, and he was not helpful at all...

    Thank You,

If I recall, didn't they regenerate upon reboot? If that's still true, then its really only down to one of a couple of choices for resolution:
    • Find culprit, delete it
    • Save data to new media, reformat drive, then have new media scanned for nasties
And based upon all I have read, I'm still confused as to what this thing is. Still can't find any definitive explaination anywhere.

    The Meaning of Axel.dav

I tried to delete the axel.dav I found when pressing START, then hovering the cursor over ALL PROGRAMS, I would see "AXEL" again, but not in the same place in the list of programs.

Maybe I could or somebody could write a little routine such as:

    Do UNTIL EOF

    READ FILE

    IF FILE NAME = "axel.dav "
    DELETE

    ELSE

    READ NEXT FILE

    EOF

    Oh well, just a thought....

I guess I will have to as you say, "save all my data files" to new media,

then reformat the drive, reinstall programs from my HP RECOVERY DVD's, then run a search for "axel.dav" and see if it is gone...

    O THE JOY OF COMPUTING!!!

    Thank You,
