My DUN connection locks up in irregular intervals. I guess its since I installed WinXP, but it may have worked in the beginning (I cant remember).

    I observed the following:
    - the lockup occurs after multiple connection and disconnection of DUN connections
    - or it occurs after about 6-12 hours anyway
    - once the lockup occured, no DUN connection works anymore until the system has been rebooted
    - this is true for "normal" and VPN DUN connections (I use DSL)
    >>> the MOST IMPORTANT: after the lockup, the command "ipconfig" still shows the last active DUN connection as present, even when not connected. This though with the IP-Address and Subnetmask as 0.0.0.0 (see attached screenshot). This connection "corpse" is always present until reboot and seems to take over all internet traffic, which of course does not work with IP 0.0.0.0. CURIOUSLY enough this dead connection stays present even when a "real" connection is reestablished, which results in a duplicate connection with the same name (see attachment), which is basically impossible.

    All these are NO solution:
    - disable internet time sync
    - change Max-MTU setting
    - change TCP/IP settings
    - disable firewall

Been searching for a solution for over 3 months now... Im grateful for every hint and help!

    Thx in advance
    Andy

Check out this screenshot with the two identical DUN connections both named "ycn ":

    WinModem or real modem?

Does ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew do anything good for you? (and yes, I know the renew is supposed to take care of doing a release first but when there are problems, I don't count on it).

Thanks for letting us know. Always nice to get the feedback.

You probably have no use for the QOS stuff anyway.
