    Hi,
Recently, I find my laptop turns itself on.
    This happens often.
There seems to be no particlar time of day when this happens.
Where do I go in my setup or system to see if there is some kind of command making this happen?

    The BIOS.

There is no XP setting to autostart the machine.

    Look for:

    . a true autostart setting
. a setting for WOL -- Wake on Lan
. or a setting for WOE -- Wake on Event, such as a USB Event
. or a setting for WOR -- Wake on Ring for the modem line

    Hi Bill
I have no idea where to go or, how to get there, to look for the 4 items you pointed out.
Do I go into F1, the setup Menu, on bootup??
Or is there another way to access the BIOS to see these settings??

The Setup menu on bootup sounds good.

    Thanks,,I will go look there..

This is an ACER 20" laptop that has something called Emanagement...which is something I am unfamiliar with, so that may have something internal that does this..
I am open to any possibility at this point...

It is getting to be a very irritating thing..as this size laptop gets very warm when it is running so I use 2 coolers, but if I don't know it is on I don't plug in the coolers...

I am concerned with it overheating on me and shortening the performance lifespan.
    Thank you for the info
