On my computer at work, I can go to one website, minimize it, and go to another, minimize it, and so forth. All of these websites will be stacked on my taskbar. I need to know how to enable this on my computer at home.

On that computer, the new website replaces the previous website. They are not stacked. It doesn't seem to be one of the advanced settings in tools.

    Any ideas? Thanks, Rob

Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, 'Re-use windows when launching shortcuts' should be unchecked.

Why not use the tabbed browser feature of IE 7 now that it is final and available for download?

Why not use Mozilla? Or Opera?
Both are more secure, stable and have more features than IE 6 or 7.

    Hi Rob,

    Welcome to the BBS.

You didn't say what browser you use at home. If IE, Bill may have the answer. If Firefox, it can be done with either windows or tabs. Let us know what browser you use, and we can go from there.

Thanks Bill, Dave and JSS3rd, Bill's answer fixed it. I do have Firefox too. My home screen is filled with shortcuts. When going back and forth between several financial sites, it was frustrating to lose the previous site when opening the new site. I could always use the back button, but ten or more clicks is way too many. Thanks for your answer.

Is it the feeling of most of you that Firefox is better than IE7? (I don't use 7) Thanks, Rob

Nope, my feeling is that IE7 is better then Firefox. I use both.

Only change I made to default IE7 is to set the security level for the Internet zone to High. Sites that I trust go in the Trusted Sites zone, so only they can run scripts.

    Hi Rob,

Arie jumped in with his opinion before I could post this, but browser choice is a personal thing. (And, I must admit, I'm a confirmed Firefox user.) Personally, I haven't yet tried IE 7, and don't see any compelling reason to do so. You might want to read CNET's take on IE7 ... scroll down to find the complete review.

If you have Firefox on your home computer, open each site in a new tab ... then each is just one click away.

    I like IE 7 a lot.

If I was to use an alternative, I would use the IE Code Base and the Maxthon IE overlay: http://www.maxthon.com/

Zander, have you even tried Firefox? :)

I really don't understand why IE 7 is supposed to be so great, although I suppose any improvement over IE 5/6 would qualify. MS had the opportunity to do something really outstanding, but came up with (in this man's opinion ;)) a pretty lame response to Firefox (and, possibly, Opera, which I don't use).

Yes, I have and use Firefox from time to time but I always end up going back to IE. I have several add-on programs that work with IE and supposedly will work with Firefox also by installing an extension but to tell you the truth, the extensions never work the way they're supposed to (or so it seems anyway). One that comes to mind is RoboForm. I use it quite frequently and in Firefox, everytime I try to use it, the browser closes. Yeah, I know it's probably not the fault of Firefox but I don't really want to fight it either. I figure IE works so why do I want to get more gray hairs fighting it in Firefox? :D

As for my comment on the article, it wasn't meant to say that IE is better than Firefox. It meant just what it said. One man's opinion. Ask the next and you'll probably get a different answer. These things can be debated through all of eternity and in the end (end of eternity??? :D ) it all boils down to one thing. The only person who really knows which is better for him is the person using the program. ;)
