    Guys

I am having a big problem on my machine and I dont know how to solve it. Something must have messed up my USB port connections because everytime I try to transfer a file from my computer to a USB memory stick (and I have tried 5 different ones), I get an error message saying that the disk (of the USB stick) is write-protected. I can read and see all files of every USB stick I plug in and it is recognised OK, but when it comes to file transfer or deleting files on the USB stick, I get this really stange error message ... any help, toughts, advice are kindly appreciated.

If you right click on the drive and go to properties, is the write proteced box checked?

    Steve

I dont have such an option when I do a right click (I know what you mean though, but there is no such option I had a good look through all the tabs available when I right-clicked on the drive icon) ... since the USB port seems to work otherwise (ie recognising any USB device I am plugging in), it looks more like a software problem to me (ie that a software "blocks" write access to USB memory stick devices) ... any other ideas/suggestions ... dont really want to re-install Windows if I can help it otherwise.

    Thanks

Are you sure that there isn't a write protect slider/switch on the physical drive?
