    Hi...

I'm not sure when this started, and I wasn't certain this condition really existed, until I purposely deleted an item to be sent to the Recycle bin, but the bin remained empty.

I have CCleaner on my machine, but the "Empty Recycle Bin" box is unchecked.

My 'delete' test was performed offline, and no programs were open, except the one containing the file to be deleted.

The icon seems to indicate that the Recycle bin isn't empty.

I hope this condition is known to someone...it doesn't make sense to me.

    Please help.

catswhisker - Welcome to the Board :)

First check the settings for the Recycle Bin ....

Right click the Recycle Bin icon > Properties and ensure that 'Do not remove files to the recycle bin ..... ' is unchecked.

I doubt that is the cause of the problem as you indicate that the icon shows some content.

The Recycle bin may be corrupted ....

Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin (Line 64)

    If the filestore is FAT32:

Go to Start/Run and type in CMD:

Type CD \RECYCLED, and then press ENTER.
Type ATTRIB -r -s -h info2, and then press ENTER.
Type DEL INFO2, and then press ENTER.

NOTE: This deletes the damaged INFO2 file. Windows will recreate this file as needed, automatically.

    If the filestore is NTFS:

    Go to Start/Run/CMD:
    rd /s /q c:\recycler

    Restart your computer.

I've had this happen to me before. If you haven't tried the steps above yet, right-click on the desktop, select new>folder, then drag it to the recycle bin. See if it shows up. Sometimes that's all it takes.

    PeteC, Bill Castner, and jw25…

    You guys are great!

What worked for me was Start/Run/Cmd: rd /s /q c:\recycler.

There had been what looked like one piece of "paper" in the Recycle Bin, and when I completed the above instruction, the icon showed "emptyâ€.

Then I made a New Folder and dragged it to the Recycle Bin The icon showed one piece of paper again, and the deleted folder was present in the Bin. I deleted it, and rebooted; then I created another New Folder and deleted it, and it’s still in the Bin.

It appears that I’m back in business.

    Thanks a lot, gang. :)
