For some reason after I restarted my computer, every email in my inbox in Outlook Express was gone.

And when I tried to import it, I got this message: Not all of the messages from the folder 'Inbox' could be imported. An error has occurred.

And it won't import anything in the folder. I desperately need to get into my email. What can I do?

I suspect that your inbox has been corrupted. This may have occured during compaction. One of the recent OE updates changed the compaction process so that a backup of the *.dbx files was placed in the Recycle bin.

Search your computer for *.dbx files - the location of your store folder is shown under Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store Folder - if you want to go direct, but I would suggest the search method in this case.

How many Inbox.dbx do you find and what are their sizes? The larger, if there are two, will be the corrupted file.

If you find this scenario you could try extracting the emails using, say, DBXtract

CosmoQueen--The Update for OE to which PeteC refers is
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918069/en-us
If you have this update you may find the Inbox.bak file still in your Recycle Bin. Follow the directions in the above article to restore the Inbox to OE.
If you do not have Inbox.bak, it is a more complicated and iffy procedure to restore those messages even if you can find them.
The first thing to do is to run a Search for *.dbx (or on Inbox.dbx, if that is the only messages you have lost). If you find inbox.dbx, see if it contains the messages you want using this program
    http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fi...-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/download.html#
and then you may be able to restore by using OE File|Import. Or use the procedure here.

If, however, the inbox.dbx does not contain the messages you seek
