I have downloaded and installed the drivers for windows xp from Logitech site 3 times and everytime I get to the point that it tells me to plug in my camera it reboots my system, goes thru scan disk and then I get an error reporting option to send to Microsoft.
    Any sugesstions?

Well, it shouldn't be going into scandisk if you are rebooting, unless you are just shutting it off with out shutting down or are not letting Xp restart on it's own... and if it is locking up at scandisk it that means there is a hardware problem. Have you checked microsoft's list of compatible hardware just to make sure it is supported? Try taking everything out that you don't absolutely need... so just leave in your cpu, ram and vid card. It might work then. It may not seem like it will work, but it is more possible than you might think. I was putting in a SB Audigy Platimun sound card awhile ago and it did the same thing. It turned out that the ethernet card was conficting and so it installed if I took out the ethernet and then I just put it back in after the sc install was all said and done... and haven't had problems since.

It reboots by itself at the point I plug in my camera and it goes thry scandisk by itself at that point.
Then it tells me my pc has recovered from a serious error and do I want to send this error report to
    microsoft.

does it give you a specific error message or code? Try using scanreg.exe at a dos promt to revert back to a copy of your registry from before you tried to install your camera, then try it again.

Is this your first USB device or do you have other items working correctly?

Mine did something similar when I installed my Logitec Quick Cam Pro, though without the scandisk. did you do a clean install of your OS or was it an upgrade?
