First thing to do is enter ipconfig and check that Windows is registering the correct IP address.

    Then try to ping 127.0.0.1

127.0.0.1 is a special IP address used for loop back. Basically it is an address that is equivalent to localhost in the named environment. When you ping 127.0.0.1 you simply send a ICMP packet through your TCP/IP stack. If this fails you have a problem with your TCP/IP set up on that PC.

If 127.0.0.1 works, try pinging your local IP address.

Once you are happy that everything is working locally we can then start looking at remote connections.

i already try to pinging 127.0.0.1 and it's local ip can it works.
that pc can ping all type of pc around but other pc cannot pinging it.
my suspect is the icmp setting....

so how to look for a remote connection?

If you are using some type of firewall then it may be blocking ping.

ICMP isn't the most sophiticated of protocols. If it were a ICMP setting issue, I'd expect no PINGs to work. That is, pinging 127.0.0.1 and the local address wouldn't work. I think it far more likely that this is a firewall issue as Tony suggests.

That ip is the ip assigned by the isp, it is not a local ip. The isp may be blocking ping. However, the gateway CAN be pinged & does respond to ping:
    Code:
    server:~# nmap -v -sP 202.184.79.81
    Starting nmap 3.81 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2006-10-30 07:39 EST
Host 202.184.79.2 appears to be up.
Nmap finished: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 3.165 seconds
                   Raw packets sent: 2 (68B) | Rcvd: 1 (46B)
