    1. I need a new machine to do taxes since TurboTax no longer supports Win 98. Should I get one w/Xp and upgrade to Vista later or wait and get Vista if it is available in Jan or Feb.

    2. See that Vista capable machines have disclaimer "Not all of Vista may be available with this machine etc." Can Vista be installed without all the IM. photo. movies etc. stuff I won't use?

    Thank You.

You can probably get a new pc with Vista in November or December.....

Vista wil come in 5 to 7 different flavors. So you don't have to get a version with all the bells and whistles.

What you should know is that Home Basic will not have the Aero user interface... You'll need Home Premium for that!
