    screensaver

I had someone recently ad a MS wireless mouse to their system...Ever since then the Screensaver will not start on its own when it is set too. They decided to use their old mouse for now..I am still trying to find out whats going on. Maybe if you installed a wireless usb mouse or keyboard lately?

The screensaver comes on after a set amount of time after activity has ceased.

Yes, mouse. (Optical?) If it is on a shiny surface the reflections could be causing the system to think there is activity.

Some programs "lock-out" the screensaver. Media/graphics based programs are one type, eg. Windows Media Player. Look in the System Tray or check the running processes in Task Manager.
