I am unable to go online. My IE reads page can't be displayed, outlook express can't connect and neither can other update type software I have IE Nortons etc. It is some kind of conflict in my operating system. I took the same ethernet card out and put it in my other computer and it works fine. (Same cable same modem). I reinstalled windows no luck, re installed my adapter card and drivers, I went thru all of the settings with comcast cable and they are puzzled why I can't connect.
This started two days ago over night. I did not add any software or anything.
Is anyone familiar with what is between my card and the internet connection that could cause this? IE winsock etc.
    Any help is appreciated.

    OS windows 98SE

    Hi catania62
    Welcome to the boards!
If it only started two days ago? How about giving scanreg /restore a shot?

Thanks. Unfortunately I was at my wits end and just off of the phone with a microsoft tech. who walked me thru this exact fix. Next time I will be more patient. The knowledge from here is great.

Sometimes my cable modem acts up and gives me the same problem. My ISP always tells me to unplug the modem and let it sit a couple minutes and then plug it back in. This reboots the modem and forces it redetect the network signal and often fixes the problems, albeit temporarily.
