I have allowed a program update to download when being asked to always allow or block, but I am asked everytime I do a new update to the same program. There are 20 allows in the firewall list. Why does it keep asking? Anything I can do to have it always allow?

I've heard more complaints about OneCare's firewall.. it seems to be a little 'too good'

If I get any info on your specific problem I'll let you know.

Hello Mary and welcome to the Board :)

    Hello rondom,

I don't know whether One Care's firewall can be disabled or not.

If it can't - you're going to have to uninstall the package.

If it can, then use a seperate firewall.

Two independent sites that test AV and Firewall effectiveness:

    http://www.firewallleaktester.com/news.htm For frewall testing.
All top tier firewalls do the basic firewall function - blocking unsolicited entries thru the browser. The problem comes from "solicited" malware that has the ability to disable the firewall. The tested firewalls are rated according to their ability to resist disabling by various forms of malware.

http://www.av-comparatives.org/ This site rates the effectiveness of AV's.

    Regards - Charles
