Are any of you having trouble with the "select tool" in Adobe Reader?

I click on the "big I" so I can select not using the "hand. "

And I cannot get it to work so that I can select both a "logo" and text.

I need to select the logo which is a picture because there is text under it which cannot be selected if I just choose to select the text.

Even if I just select the text and not the logo, I can't get what I want. It won't stick. I do try to click on the first of the text and then with the shift key, the last of the text, but that won't "stick. "

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

Judy--Choose the Camera (Snapshot tool), rather than the "I" in the Reader toolbar. Now hold down a right click and create a rectangular area (by dragging the cursor) around what you want to copy. Let up on the cursor. That should put whatever is in the rectangle into your Clipboard. You can copy that into any graphics editor, including WordPad, Paint, Irfanview, etc.

That works great, however, it is a picture and prints as a picture with text somewhat fuzzy.

I would like to print using the "selection" choice on the "print" page. This selection with the camera doesn't "stick" once it copies to the clipboard.

The document is legal size, and that is why I want to select only part of it to print.

    Thanks, Jim, for another idea.

Judy--What you are experiencing is not what I experience when using the Camera (Snapshot tool).
After creating a rectangular line around what I want to copy, and then
    1) if I get a message saying the rectangle is copied to Clipboard, or
    2) if I get no such message, click Edit|Copy
I then paste into a graphics editor and Save the image.
Now you should be able to Print the saved file. (You cannot just print the Clipboard image.)

But if none of this works for you, when you see the material you want to Print, click PrtScn (which again should copy to Clipboard) and go through the above procedure starting with "then paste... ". In the graphics editor, you can crop the image to just the parts you want if that is necessary.
I do not understand that. Maybe it is specific to your printer. But if you follow the above suggestions, you really should not have to "select" using your printer. You will have already done that in the process of pasting, cropping (if necessary) and saving the image in your graphics editor. The printer just prints the whole saved image.

The PDF document seems to be an image, not a "real" document. So, when I do use the "camera," I am in fact copying an image.

What I want to do is convert this PDF to a Word document. However, there does not seem to be a way to do this. I can convert it to a text document, but then I lose the formatting.

I am sorry I did not explain myself better prior.

Thanks for your suggestion, and am sorry to be so slow -- have been out of town and also computer crashed.

The 2 links you offered were helpful, but - the first one cost nearly $89, and the second free conversion only works on text for the adobe reader. You need to have the full Adobe product to conver to to Word or html.

At least your help showed me that what I want cannot be done.

What I am trying to convert is a monthly bill.

I will ask the vendor to do the conversion on their end. -- since I am sending to them the cash.

Judy--I did not look at many of the individual links in the references I provided, but, for example the second link in the first reference is leads to Omniformat
    http://www.omniformat.com/download.html
Seems free and the brief description seems to cover what you asked for.
