    Running Windows 2000 Server

I have a folder on a drive with xls files in it on a server. I've shared that folder out to 2 global groups, Full Access. A 3rd global goup I've denied access to that folder.

One user that is in a group with Full Access, can open the folder and sees the files but when she opens a file, there's an error msg. stating; "..Acess denied, the file is either a read only or encrypted ".

I've checked the goup name an the permissions are granted full for read,write,etc...

I've check the xls files also and none are selected for hidden or ready only.

    Need Help.
    Thanks.
    Bill

sounds like the user is a member of both groups .... permited and denied .. deny overrides allow

If thats not the case, try adding one user at time and see if its an issue with permissions or an issue with the server replicating the information...

Sounds like the parent folder permisions weren't inherated by the child objects.

Sometimes you have to re-tick that box if some of the objecs came from another folder or they had different permissions previously.
