Bsod - IRQL not less or equal & Machine Check Exception!

Hello,

This is my first post in here, hope you guys can help me out.

My computer has become highly instable. IT started shutting the monitor while i was working, even tough the cpu was still working. Thought it was a problem with the monitor so i got a new one.

Now every day when i turn the computer on it shut downs the monitor in about 2 minutes. This only happens the first time i power on the computer. I have to reboot it some 5 times before it stays stable.

I was also getting alot of bsod so i decided to format my disk.

Did it, updated every driver i could and the computer got a little better. But i still get some bsod like the irql not less or equal ; i also keep getting a machine check exception and sometines a kernel inpage data error.

Just got another BSOD. This time a kernel start inpage error

Well, this sure is a helpfull forum.

I'll "have a go" as we say over here.

Have a look at that IRQ that is identified. Go to Device Manager, open the View menu, select Resources by type, click the plus (+) next to IRQ (Interrupt Request), see what is allocated to IRQ 18. Try physically removing that piece of hardware (on my system it is allocated to an add-in PCI TV controller).

In the second error report it says to check the drive connectors. Pull out and reseat the connectors to the HDDs. Run Error Checking (chkdsk) on your HDDs. See if www.pcpitstop.com can identify a problem with the drives.

No luck (IRQ conflict, usually because it is causing a conflict with other hardware), physically remove any added hardware (PCI cards, etc, including printers, etc). There will be no problem with reinstalling drivers, it will be done automatically. If the BSODs go away, add back one piece of hardware at a time until you identify what is causing the problem.

Still no luck, go into the BIOS settings at startup (it may be easier to check through the motherboard manual), look for settings to disable onboard hardware. Add back one at at time as I said before.

Hello,

I'm sorry for my initial dispare!

I have taken apart every single piece of hardware from my pc, leaving just the motherboard, the processor, one module of ram (tested with sucess by memtest) and a new sata harddrive ( connected by a pci controller). And still I had bsod's every 15 minutes. It actually got worst.

And now the device manager says that everything is working improperly. EVERYTHING. I had a clean install with a XP pro sp2 and it didnt change anything.

I'm guessing its either the onboard pro savage ddr ( since the monitor keeps shutting down) or the processor.

Any diagnose tools for these?

You may need to reseat everything and that includes the CPU. If you want to reseat the CPU (and check for possible bent pins), you will need to replace the thermal compound between the CPU and the heatsink. Read through the instructions for Arcticsilver 5 at www.arcticsilver.com. That will give you the basic information for having a good layer of thermal compound (the thinnest and even layer).

The error report that identified a problem with the HDD may be a problem with the drivers you have installed (during setup Windows says "Press F4 to install SCSI....drivers "). Maybe you have installed the wrong drivers.

Try the test utilities from the harddrive manufacturer.
