    Hi:
I have had a hummingbird on my computer for ages.
It's from www.Cloud Forest Alive.com They had it as wallpaper
for anyone that wanted it. I was using Netscape when I first got it.
    Now for the problem:

Maybe you know I do stationery. I am not very used to using filters. I should have asked first, but it seemed easy enough.
These are the instructions I received.

"filter factory A pool shadow moving the bottom 2 sliders down a bit until your happy with the shadow
    select none "

I made a folder on my desktop, I found the filter I wanted which was Pool Shadow in Filter Factory.

It had the name under it, there were about five images of butterflys and a couple of other marbled type images.
So I clicked on the Pool Shadow and it was downloading, it seemed to take a long time, I am on cable, and so then I thought it was downloading the works. I didn't want all that stuff on my desktop so I cancelled it.

When I went to my desktop, part of the image was there on the right
hand side. It didn't have the usual blue bar across the top, just a square which was half a butterfly. I could NOT
delete or move. I right clicked and then I saw that there was a 'stretch' so I clicked on that.
My goodness, lol, I wasn't a happy camper then, it was all over my screen. It went over my hummer.

So I went in Desktop and removed the folder. That didn't do anything. I have played so much in Display trying to get another wallpaper, it shows up fine in Display, Themes, but not on my desktop.

I have rebooted and rebooted and the thing is, that my desktop hurts my eyes and I can hardly see after I look at it. I have a lot of icons on it. I guess the filter is working over my hummer now. The colours are unbelieveable.

Does anyone know what I should do? I don't, I tried everything, I even googled, but I know how to display wallpaper, it's filters that are my nemisis.
    TIA

Are you saying the pic is still stuck on your desktop? If so, try this. Right click on the desktop>properties>desktop tab and then click on the customize desktop button. Click the web tab and make sure the line that says lock desktop items isn't checked. Also, uncheck anything in the box where it says web pages. If you see the wallpaper listed there, you can click on it to highlight it and then click the delete button to get rid of it completely although unchecking it should remove it from the desktop.

thank you Zander, but when I right clicked I didn't get anything that said
Desktop or Wallpaper. All I remember seeing was "Stretch" so I clicked it.

I fixed it this afternoon. I fiddled enuf with it. When I right clicked, I clicked on NView|Properties, I don't know if that has something to do with my NVideo card.

I went to the site where I first got the hummer and it was still there after all these years. I put it again as my wallpaper but only half of it showed.
Up at the top when I put my curser there, there was a bar and I accidently dragged alittle and I noticed it was the Hummingbird. I then dragged it on my
page and it seems to be alright. I hope it stays and is still there tomorrow.

I think it's fixed, This is a Dell machine and I kept clicking on support this PM and this window pops up with maintenance or security. So I clicked on maintenance and did it a few times. They said it was fine, but it wasn't.
So perhaps they had something to do with helping me out of the mess, I have no idea. Anyway, I won't complain, I'm rid of the mess I had.
    thank you zander

Glad to hear you got it fixed. FWIW, when I said right click on the desktop I meant on a blank spot and then choose properties, etc. Oh well, all's well that ends well. :)

From your last description, it does sound like something that would be considered a web item. When they're locked on the desktop they can't be moved. When they're unlocked, they have title bar showing at the top and can be dragged around using it.

It sounds a bit odd the way it ended up there but I guess it doesn't really matter. As long as it's fixed. ;)

lol, I hope it will still be fixed in the morning when I close down for the night.
I had a filter over the image, I guess.. It was horrible.
I'll have to learn how to download filters. :)
I did click on a blank place on the desktop, but I am using IE/OE
I suppose you know that. I should have mentioned it at the beginning I suppose. Next time..... Been a long time since I came in here, but I was looking thru' everything and came across BBS.
    thanks zander
