Hi, I have a problem with Spyware. My wallpaper keeps changing to "Warning! Spyware threat detected on your PC." It goes on to say that I need to install antispyware software to fix the problem.

It also provides a "Click here" link (TOTAL PC PROTECTION) to Download antispyware software from. Also I keep getting notifications from my utitility tray about spyware and virus infections.

I have just gone out and bought 2006 Norton internet security (I had 04) and set it up and run a full system scan, which found a few threats and removed them.

I have also downloaded Windows defender Beta 2 and run a scan, which still hasn't fixed the problem.

If I've left anything out please say so.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Shorerider

    Welcome to windowsbbs.

This is how we will check your system.

Please go Here and download Hijackthis version 1.99.1. Please be sure to save it to a permanent directory, such as C:\Prgram Files\HJT.
Open HJT and do a scan and save log, (it will open in note pad) copy and paste the log file in the form "Removing Spyware & Viruses " and someone will look it over.

Do Not fix anything with HJT unless told to do so.

Do Not do as this says.

    Spyware removal.

I've done as you asked, so hopefully someone will be able to sort it out.

    Thanks for your help Geri.
