Problems With DVD Burning

    my comp crashed a few years ago and so a lot of things were wiped out from my memory.. i wanted to try burning dvd's but my comp doesn't respond to dvd burning..my comp can still burn cd's though.. what should i do?

    Are you sure that you have a DVD burner?

    It should have DVD-RW embossed on the front. If it is DVD-ROM (Read Only Memory) it is not capable of burning DVDs.

    Also, some drives are DVD-RW and some DVD+RW, so you need to use the appropriate media.

    i do hav dvd-rw on the front and i bought both just in case one wouldn't work..

    yes i do have a dvd burner..or at least i had one until my comp had everything erased.. do you think there's someway i can get it back again?

    It might be that the driver didn't reinstall properly then. Try downloading a new one from the Manufacturer's site and installing that.

    My standard procedure is to uninstall the drive in Device Manager. It will be automatically reinstalled at restart.

    Hi flipchk,

    If the driver is re-installed, the easiest way that I have found for burning DVD's is to use Deep Burner (FREE) from here.
    It has a very simple interface, and will burn ISO's no problem.
