I'm using WinXP SP2. I've been experimenting on changing a desktop background to a saved scheme.

I first save the desktop scheme by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Save As Scheme.

If I right-click on the desktop again and choose Desktop Background\Display Mode I get the following menu:

My present background is LakeLouise. My previous background was WaterLilies. Why is it that clicking on WaterLilies does not bring up the desired change in background?

dld - Welcome to the Board :)

Some general observations - I run XP in Classic mode so cannot give specifics for your desktop....

I am wondering if the Display Mode/Save as Scheme option is native to XP or to your graphics card software - I don't see that in Classic mode.

Can you change the desktop scheme through the conventional route via Display Properties?

You are right about Save As Scheme being native to my graphics card software. I did not realize this. I went to my laptop and I see I don't have this option on the laptop.

Yes, I can change the desktop scheme through the conventional route. So that explains everything. Thanks very much for clearing this up for me.

You're wecome :) - a reinstall/update of your graphics card software may be in order.
