Hi, I am using two seperate win98 computers, networked through a gigafast switch. Accessing the internet from both computers and sharing files works well, but I still have a problem. My printer is hooked to computer number 1 and it prints fine. When I try to print from the second computer, through computer 1 and then to the printer, I get a User Intervention:mad: message when I look at the set up properties. Someone told me that the ISP address must be the same on both computers. Where is that, and how do I set it up? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me directly at fxcruiser@aol.com.

    Thanks, Cruiser:cool:

Assuming that you have File and Printer sharing enables, all you should need to do is go to Printers & Faxes > Add Printer > Printer connected to another Computer > Find a Printer in the Directory > Find Now (don't enter any criteria). Your printer should show up in the search results. Select it and finish the wizard.

    Win98SE networked printers

David, thank you for your reply. I do have as you directed, but I get a "User intervention" message in the printer properties area and a new icon (next to the clock) showing that I I have printer jobs in que. Perhaps, you could instruct me with all of the steps and I can start at the begining? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have three machines and also had all kinds of printing problems when I had the printer plugged into just one machine and shared by the other two. The main one being that I would forget and shut this machine off.

I finally went out and got an HP Printer that plugs directly into the Router and is setup individually on each machine. Just need to remember and not shut the Printer itself off ( which I have done )

    PS.

I have two 98SE and one XP Pro machine.

    Attention BillyBob-Printer question

I am not opposed to buying a new printer. Can you make a recomendation on model and suggest good pricing?
    Thanks

The only thing that I can say is that I have an HP 5850 and it is the only one that I have tried.

I lucked out and it worked the first time.
