What hardware do you mean Christer? Peripherals or components of the machine?
I have been running Vista beta, (still waiting for my RC 1) on my backup and Linux machine, and I have been very pleasantly surprised by its included drivers. All my attached hardware worked, scanner, printers, Zip, USB HD etc. Vista is the first OS that has included drivers for my printers Canon I9950 and i850, and I can't even get them to work at all under SuSE 10.

    Roger,
a bit more than 1 GHz CPU and 512 MB RAM for starters ... ;) ... I haven't got as far as hardware specific drivers yet!

Not necessarily too topnotch Jim. My Vista is running pretty well on a GeForceFX 5500 and that only has 128 Mb on board.

Yeah, it seems to run fine with my 9600XT. 128mb's of ram and it runs Aero by default. It's a bit slower than XP of course but I've yet to turn off all of the animations (windows, menus, etc.) I haven't tired of them yet but it won't be long. :D

Would be nice if a few more manufacturers realised that Vista is really here and provided compatible drivers. I can't use my broadband with Vista - no modem drivers, so have not really lived with it on a day to day basis.

Lack of broadband modem drivers for those modems supplied by UK ISP's must impact on the urge to try Vista over here.

A Nice Router or Ethernet modem would soon sort that out :)

I'm sure it would, Chris, but that is not the point - why yet more expense when I have several perfectly good modems supplied by ISP's :) And Joe Public is not necessarily savvy about such things.

Sorry Pete. I'm sure you had thought of that already yourself.
But by running Vista RC1 and by being a member of the staff here, I just assumed you would not be grouped in the general public category.

As for expense - I’ve yet to meet a skint IT wizard :)

Undoubtedly true, but I am retired - and I never worked in IT :)
