I am unable to change the background in the display properties desktop. When I change a theme, the icons change correctly yet the background remains blue. I see backgrounds listed but can not scroll nor select any item. When I right click on a picture and set it as the background, the desktop still shows blue, although when I shutdown the computer and the desktop closes, the picture is there for a monment.

Any ideas? This occurred about the same time as installing the latest spy squelcher.

    Thank you

The program you installed probably has a option to lock the background so it can not be changed by malware.

This is certainly caused by a Policy setting, either set as per-user or per-machine. Download Wallpaper Hijack Remover from the following URL:

    http://www.networktechs.com/files/14/wphijack.zip

Unzip and run the utility. Click the Check for Hijack button. Click the Repair button located adjacent to each Policy setting.

Repeat the above for HKLM also.
