    Hi,
I ran the windows repair last night and now have a problem with Outlook express. The files all seem to be there but Outlook express does not show up in the ADD/Remove Programs list and the address book sems to be missing as well. What have I done or not done?

Outlook Express is never in Add/Remove, as it is a part of Internet Explorer.

For you address book, search for a file with the name *.wab* (make sure that search is set to Search hidden files and folders).

Hi Arie, thanks again. That explains why I couldn't find it there. I searched for wab files earlier but everything is running so slow. I am back in safe mode now. I have found the address book file but when I click on itm, absolutely nothing happens. Outlook express is giving the message MSOE.DLL could not be loaded.

Could I ask what kind of "repair" you did for XP?

    Some repairs to try:

    Start, Run, sfc /Scannow
    Start, Run, iexplore.exe /rereg

When completed a log entry is made in your Event Logs. This command will required that your have your XP CD handy.

Then run IEFix by MS-MVP Ramesh Srinivasan. You can uncheck the SFC option as you would have done that already earlier. What IEFix will do is to finish the job of re-registering components: http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFIX.htm

Next use Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and the "Set Program Access and Defaults" applet on the left panel.

Make sure that Outlook Express is set as the mail cllient. Apply.

Finally, in Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, the Advanced tab, use the Reset to defaults button at the bottom.

Thanks Bill, I will have a go. I used the XP repair on the installation disc last night but now things are running so slow unless I am in safe mode.
