    I have been making a lot of changes in my Outlook 2003, mostly for the better, as I learn how to customize it for myself. But there is one inadvertent change that I made which I would like to undo. I'm looking for help.

    Previously, when I clicked Send/Receive on the toolbar, Outlook would go to my ISP's server and download my mail. Now, for some reason, getting my mail requires an additional step: I need to go to Send/Receive and use the pull-down menu to specify my email account name. There is another account listed there ( "All Accounts Group ") that apparently is the default account. Can someone here tell me how to change things so that my own account is once again the default account?

    TIA

    Tools->Accounts->

    Sounds like you have two accounts. If you don't need the new one - zap it...Or highlight the second and click Make Default.

    Thanks, Steve. Yes, it does look as though there is more than one account but when I go to Tools>Email Accounts and then select "View or change existing email accounts," there is only one account showing. (The correct one.) I don't know where that "All Accounts Group" choice in Send/Receive could be coming from.

    So, as before, any help is appreciated.

    Is the Set as Default button available or is it grayed out?

    Hi Steve,

    Set as Default is grayed out. Also, I don't know if this is helpful but on that same email accounts window there is a pull-down menu under the words, "Deliver new email to the following location." The pull-down menu has two choices. Both of them have the same name, "Personal folders." This corresponds to the fact that my main Outlook Mail page has two "Personal folders." One of them is the set of folders that I use all the time; the other one just sits there, unused.

    As an Outlook newbie, I haven not understood why this is the case but I am now wondering if it is related to my Send/Receive mail problem.

    Sorry if I am complicating things. I appreciate your help.

    Deleting the unused one would probably help.

    Yes, I'm sure you're right. I haven't been able to do that. (Remember: you're dealing with a fairly well-experienced computer layman but a Eudora newbie.) In the main Mail window, the program won't let me change the unused Personal folders. Right click doesn't provide that option and dragging to the trash is prohibited. I assume there is a place inside the program where this can be done....?

    Does right click have a Delete option?

    No. At least not in the Mail window...the one with all the folders arranged downthe left side of the window. When I tried dragging the unused Personal Folders icon to the trash, I got an error notice that said it is a folder that cannot be deleted.

    I think your original suspicion is right...that there are somehow two accounts set up here. But I'm not enough of a Eudora guy to know how to fix that. Feeling sheepish...
