Well, I don't know what's going on. I have symptons only and no clue.

I cannot copy/paste files, nor can I drag them anywhere. I cannot see anything in the add/remove programs under the control panel. It's pretty much blank. If I go into event viewer or device manager and try to see the properties on something, nothing happens, however when trying to close the window I get a message that all property windows must be closed first.
I have tried installing virus software but I always get an error about Windows Installer, I also get this issue when trying to install Java. The only things I have been able to get to work is Avast's cleaner, and the online virus scan by Housecall. Neither of them turned up anything and I was so sure I had a virus. I thought Explorer.EXE was supposed to be all lowercase in the processes list.

I have re-installed the latest version of internet explorer, I cannot uninstall and then reinstall because my add/remove programs is not working. I have installed SP4, I found something about a blaster worm and needing to install some patch with an almost unbelievably long name and have done that with no changes. I have also seen something about a program called Hijack This so I found that and used it and made a log.

This compy was given to me, I do not have any OS cds to start over with, can I be hellped? Any information needed that I havn't posted please ask, I will find out whatever anybody needs. Asfar as the things hijack this found, I nearly started pulling things myself but thought better of doing it before I got some advice. I'm perfectly fine with cutting out all the fat.
Please someone give me a clue

HijackThis log edited, no malware present, problem is unrelated.

Well it's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one who has no idea.

Hello Seijirou and welcome to the forums.

Your problem most certainly lies with the OS and is unrelated to malware.

That being said, I have moved your request for assistance to the proper forum where it will get more views by those steeped in OS repairs.

Your HJT log file did not have any malware in it.

    Good luck.
