Will the setting of windows XP remain same if i upgrade my motherboard and CPU, but keep harddisk the same.

if cannot, got 3rd party software to recovery all setting?
example , can norton ghost able to do this? etc

    or any other software?
i don't wish to reinstall so many program/games etc.

A request for re-activation of XP is to be expected.

    A very good guide:
    http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/...4/m/1400925745

    See, from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;824125

This KB is no longer on US sites, but provides valuable information:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;nl;314070

Copy and paste the listing at article end into Notepad. File, Save as, controllers.reg This has to be a record for the length of a .REG file in a MS KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/

Then double click controllers.reg and merge with your registry.

All the possible options for accomplishing your move:
    http://www.windowsreinstall.com/install/other/motherboard/win2k.htm

You can always "fix" any problems after the move by a repair reinstall of XP
I like how Fred Langa explains the process:
