    I am running Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711) on my old lap top and I want to transfer all my messages to my new laptop running Outlook Express 6.
    Outlook 2000 only lets you export to a file and Outlook Express 6 doesn't let you import from a file. Is there anyway I can do it?
    Regards Paul

    When I select either microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange I get a box that says 'Message cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occurred.'

    Thanks for that Arie, unfortunatly it says that if you have already uninstalled Microsoft Outlook you need to temporarily reinstall it. But Microsoft Outlook was never on this new laptop, it's on my old laptop.

    Outlook will let you Export Mail Messages to "Comma Separated Values "

    Outlook Express will let you Import Mail Messages from "Comma Separated Values "

    Steve, I can Export from Outlook to "comma seperated values" but I can't see how I import it then to Outlook Express, it doesn't give me the option.

    Oooops. I accidently click import addressbook earlier..

    In OE->File->Import->Messages->OUTLOOK
    You'll be promted to drill down to the pst file you copied over.

    Arie, I have tried all the suggestions, I configured Outlook Express not to be the default MAPI client but still got the MAPI error message. It did say to reinstall the old Outlook first but I can't as it was never installed on the brand new laptop.

    OK so I still can't import my messages from Outlook 2000 to Outlook Express 6. Microsoft say they can't help as the operating system was not purchased seperate from the laptop and to contact the manufacturer, this is Dell, they don't want to know about operating system software calls. Were do I go from here?

    I have sorted my import problem out. I downloaded microsoft office 2003 trial version and installed it on my new laptop, I then imported the pst file from my old laptops outlook 2000. I then tried the import into outlook express 6 and it worked.
    Thanks for your help anyway and hope this might be usefull to someone else.

    Regards Paul
