    Hello Bimmer,

Once you close out a session using a program like Roxio's Drag and Drop, can't add to a CD-R, have to use CD-RW's.

Generally, if you want to add to an existing CD, have to use RW's.

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Bimmer Guy,

    No problem :)

If you don't want to add to a RW, erase the CD first.

FYI, used to cycle thru four CD RW's for my backups - now use DVD's for that.

    Regards - Charles

Hi again: Sincerely don't want to be a pain. I have cdr's here. All I ever bought. I add to them all the time. Programs, word, excel, all formats, mp3's, movies (shot by me). Now all of a sudden I can't put wma's on existing cdr's.

    Tks

    Hi Bimmer Guy,

What are you using to burn - Roxio or Nero or something else? Important to answer.

I'll ask one of the experts in this area to look at this thread.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks for getting back & checking into this for me Charles. I'm using Nero. In my Nero there is a option to burn WMA CD's which is what I use (wma's only) . There is options for data, mp3, dvd vcd etc..

I'll be back Monday night so don't get mad if I don't respond :)
    Tks

    Hi Bimmer Guy!

Have used CD-Rs for years for drag-n-drop with Roxio and it's predecessor, and think InCD works the same. As charlesvar mentioned, you mustn't 'close' the disk if you wish to re-use it 'till it's full. We're asked whether to eject the disk in a form that will be used on our own or on any computer; the latter closes the disk and the former does not. Actually the same question is asked with CD-RWs, i think, and has the same effect, but the RWs can be ereased and re-used but the Rs can't.

So if you can't add to a CD-R, it must be closed. Once closed, that's permanent.

If you don't see the eject message, use the Alt-tab keystroke (press and hold Alt and tap tab repeatedly as needed to see all the open windows when ejecting a disk, before you hit enter.

File type, e.g. wma, has no bearing on the problem, so long as it's digital, which all files are in Windows.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately I can't find the option to keep the session open.

I looked on my copy of nero (v6.4)

Under the 'burn wma disc' option. After you add the tracks you want, and hit 'next' to go to the next stage (where it lets you specify which burner, etc) there are two check boxes in the bottom section (writing speed area)

The 'allow files to be added later (multisession disc)' must be checked (ticked). You may get a popup warning that not all players will support this, yada yada, confirmation'.

I do this and the discs can be added to later.

Hi chromedog: thanks for replying. I'm using Nero 6.6.0.0 I looked for your suggestion for multisession, it was unchecked. Checked it and it still fails to work. I know it does'nt make any difference what format but all data files can be added to existing cd's just not wma on this machine. Can you suggest another ver of nero?

    Hi Bimmer Guy,

    Thanks for the followup :)

Problems like this are always hard to troubleshoot.
