    Hi!
I've recently had a problem with my save/open dialog box. Instead of listing the contents in alphabetical order as usual, it lists the files by size. This is REALLY annoying me!
    This is a sample window:

The only thing that I've recently installed is FolderSize 2.3. I've uninstalled that but it hasn't fixed it.

Note this problem only appears in save/open dialog box, files in Windows Explorer list normally.
Also MS Word doesn't seem to be affected.

Please help it's driving me insane!

    Peter

    PS
This is not a simple right click arrange icons by name problem! That works fine, but it doesn't remember that setting. Next time you go to save a file or open one in Photoshop for example it will sort the files by size.

Hi, fir0002. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

I don't know what applications(s) you are accessing the save/open dialog box from that show your problem. You only stated MS Word does not seem to be affected.

    Suggestion:
After you arrange by name in Windows Explorer, then click on Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Apply to All Folders button > Apply button > OK button.

Perhaps that will do the trick. Please let us know.

You likely need an increase to your Folder Customization Limit.

    See MS-MVP Ramesh Srinivasan's discussion: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/folderviews.htm

MS-MVP Kelly Theriot makes those registry shy have a slighter easier time of it:

You likely will find a sorted view will work better if use the column headers instead of View, Sort by.

For example, open Explorer and click on the Word "Name" or any other Column header. Do it several times to get a feel for this sorting feature.
