Hi there. I'm trying to install the latest version of Flash (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash). It installs fine and says its successfull but when I go to a website that requires it, it says I need to download it again...

My guess is that a program on my computer is stopping it from installing fully/properly. Is there any way that I can find out which program it is so that I can disable it for the installation or is there a way to get round it?

This may not even be my problem so if you've got any other suggestions, i'm open for 'em.

    Thanks.

    Hello BarelakedNadies,
    welcome to WindowsBBS ... :) ... !

You need to be logged in on an account with administrator privileges. If not, it may seem like it installs OK but doesn't. I don't know why Adobe does not tell about it.

If you are logged in as an administrator, then ... ...

Try this: Install the Player like you said you did once again, close the browser, restart the machine and try to use it.

This worked for me. I found it somewhere on Google but can't remember where.

BarelakedNadies--I get that message quite often, since my Internet Sites|Security tab|Custom Level settings are pretty strict. That means the running of ActiveX controls is blocked.
But when I get that message I put the site into Trusted Sites, assuming I really do trust the site.

Then Refresh or reenter the site. Usually it works fine. Especially on the Flash Download site or sites using Active X controls. Of course you have to do it with each site's URL.
