    Hi,
I'm trying to prevent access to the internet from my pc to my son who is VERY computer savvy. At first I thought about a way to lock the internet at the cable box between the cable and the modem, but not sure if this is avalable. I have window xp with 2 computers attached via a router with cable modem. Any ideas??

    Thanks,
    Dan

See if your router will let you do this.

Is your son an Administrator on the computer? There is little to prevent him from reverting any software change you make.

    Three things to consider:

    1. Restrictions using native tools:

    . Use a false proxy

    . Use IPSEC

    2. Use the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit (Free)

    3. Use Inexpensive Commercial software
    Example: http://www.plushware.com/conntroll/index2.php

    4. Wait for Vista. It has the feature for per-user days and hours limits.
