Hello, I'm new. I am going to get a new computer with Windows XP Media Edition and I have XP Home now. I have copied all the .DBX files for all my oe folders and my address book to my Maxtor external hard drive. When I set up the new computer, where do I insert these files so my OE folders will set as they are now?
    C:\Documents and Settings\ME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{D722B98B-FC11-41D5-BC49-DB3E8E6005C2}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\
is the path to where the files are stored on my current unit.

Am I going about this right? I have visited Windows help but got confused-got this info from Directron.com,Moving Your E-mail to Another Computer, which for me was a lot easier to understand and it is specifically for OE and XP thank you for any help............

Thank you, Pete, you were right it is straightforward. I followed the instructions step by step for exporting Outlook Express data and Address Book and I now have a file on my desktop named "Mail backup ". If I move a copy of that file to my Maxtor External Hard Drive will I be able to "Import" the info from there when I get the new computer set up? I read somewhere that should be done prior to downloading any new emails in the new system--is that correct? Thank you again for your help.

    Yes ... and ... yes :)

You may also like to export your Cookies and Favourites from IE to a file ....

In IE - File > Import and Export - same on the the new computer File except you choose the import option.
