When trying to send an attachment with a JPG extension through OE I receive the message "does not recognise the program, create a file association ". When going to Folder Options there is already a JPG association with a different file and it is necessary to make a choice. Is there any way to get round this ? Most grateful for a reply.

Not sure I understand that. What program(s) do you now have associated with .jpg files? (Having more than one would be unusual.)

Just to make sure that's not a typo of some sort, are you trying to send an attachment or open one that was sent to you when you get this error?

I confess that I wrestled with that, too. I have never seen such an error message when I send an email attachment. Please double check.

    File Associations / Folder Options

Thanks for your replies fellows. I will start from the beginning.
I used Epson Smart Panel to "scan to email ", it was text which was classified as a bl & wh photo. It turned up in my Outlook Express as Attachment
Email0021.jpg. I clicked the atchmt. to view it and received the dialogue "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." I went to Folder Options and entered JPG for a new item but received the dialogue "Ext JPG already associated with Easy Share. Do I wish to un-associate it ?" I have not used Folder Options previously, perhaps I am missing something.

    Thanks again

Right-Click on attachment and select 'Save As', give it a name and remember where you saved it to. Now find the file and double-click it, if associated already then it will open appropriate program, otherwise it will bring a choice that you can select one program from; i recommend a paint program if you have one listed, if not listed but you have one then click the browse button and find it.....i think you will get the idea from now on.
