i think i might understand this one.

PC1 is connected to the surfboard modem via USB

I should connect PC2 to the surfboard modem with the straight forward cable via the network card plug on the back of PC2 (where i currently have the xover cable plugged into).

If the surfboard modem supports LAN access & if my network card is working, i should get what result?

Another thought, i have never before used the network card in PC2. Is it something that needs set up or any initial actions on my part to get it working?
It's always just shown as there. I've never done anything with it.

Just make sure the driver is loaded and it works.

Last time I checked over it the device manager showed a driver & stated this device is working properly.

Unplugged Xover cable from PC 2
Plugged PC2 into external high speed modem via straight through cable.....
    nothing

PC1 now showed "Network Cable Unplugged "
Cable was still plugged in PC1. This means there is succesful connection established between PC1 & 2? I just can't share..... & don't understand why:confused:

You have to restart your modem, some requires shut down for 5 minutes(read your manual) then look at the PC2's network card to see if the light is on or blink something.

Also, it is better to check the network card driver on your pc2 at this moment.

It is very normal, because the other end is unpluged.
