Being new to networking I have just set up a home network (wired desktop, wireless laptop). Previously I had DSL modem on a power strip with CPU, Monitor, etc. and I turned them all off at night. Now I re-configured the Router & Modem onto a separate power strip so I can have them on without my desktop being turned on. My question is; I don't want to leave router and modem on all night but I don't know if turning them off will cause problems? Will I lose any configurations, etc.?

    Thanks

    Dennis,

I usually leave mine on, but the times that I did turn them off (severe storms predicted for the area), I had no problems. All settings stayed intact. I just turned them on and off I went.

Thanks Mike. I didn't think there would be a problem but I wasn't sure.

I leave mine on 24/7 as well.

But, if turning them off each night posed a configuration problem, the solution would be to replace them.

They should be able to handle this duty cycle without issue.
