I was away a few days, so when I came back the number of "New Posts" was large. I therefore took some time to read the first five pages (out of 12) and when I tried to read page 6, I was told that search was invalid or something like that. In other words, windowsbbs had decided I took too long to get to page 6. Clicking "Mark Forums Read" and then trying to re access through New Posts, only went back 24 hours. I still had about 2 1/2 days worth of posts to read when I could not access page 6.
I suppose I could go through each individual forum to see what happened on those days but that is a nuisance.
I suggest "New Posts" be allowed to show all the "New Posts" (total of 12 pages in my case), before refusing access to earlier posts.
This has happened before when I take too long on a New Posts page, but usually I am only a day away from my last visit and can see all the inaccessible posts through "Mark Forums Read" followed by "NewPosts ".

Jim, do you keep going back to the original search, or do you do a New posts in between, then try to go back to the initial search?

If I do do a search, then a new search, and go back to the original search, I get a invalid search results.

Hope I explained it well :)

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Jim,

    Got the same thing today.

Doing a lot of searching trying to answer a post and this seems to be a sort of time out condition.

    Regards - Charles

    charlesvar--Glad I am not alone. (I did not think I was. :) )
I am sure it is a time out situation. Not sure why this is felt necessary.
And in response to your first post, no, I did not repeatedly go to New Posts. I just proceeded through the list of posts and page numbers.

    Hello!

I think in vBulletin after a while searches expire..

If you do a New posts search, you will see when the results are displayed, the URL is similar to

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/search.php?searchid=123456

This eventually (after the time it takes to read 5/6 pages worth) expires...

    Hope that makes sense :)
