Not Connecting To The Internet

My browser is saying that it cannot connect to the Internet. When I go to the File menu and untick Work Offline, I still get this problem.

Please can you advise me what I can do to permanently solve this problem.

have u tried checking to make tried pinging any websites to ensure that its not the browser? But first, how do u connect to the internet : dsl, dialup, cable?

 

I connect with Broadband. However, it is actually not my machine it is a friend's machine. I will need to talk then through any queries as they are new to computers. If you know the answer or a way to solve this, please tell me what to do so that I can help them.

What is the operating system? Browser being used? Connection to the internet? What is the exact error message you receive, is it "page can not be displayed "?

Otherwise, more details are needed.

 

you first need to ensure that the problem is not with your browser so try a different internet browser. next check the connection on your modem. are the sync lights lighting up? Can u ping any site?
