I use Windows MEwith Word 2000. Age and absent mindedness is taking its toll. Word by default now presents a blank page with 3 columns. I change them to 1 column but having written my piece and selected Page>Setup.it will accept the default margins for default Page Size 8.5x11. However if Page Size A4 is selected, no matter what dimension I make the margins, I get an MS warning (exclamation mark in a yellow triangle) saying the left and right margins are too large for the page. Thus I can go no further and print. .I have tried everything I know without success. Typing "How do I use File>Page Setup?" covers evrything but Page Setup. The only Setup it acknowledges is to do with Printer Setup. I have even re-loaded Word 2000 but it is still the same. I can only assume I have mistakenly pressed a button at some stage and changed the default configuration. Unfortunately it seems not simply a case of reading the instructions for the answer but finding the right question eg Paga Setup versus Printer Setup!
    Kind regards,

Two areas I would look at:

First your Normal.dot. This is you default template and lives in your profile (sorry, I don't know where it will be on an ME PC - you'll need to search your system for it) so tends not to get overwritten when you reinstall. This contains your default page set up as well as other information. I'd suggest renaming it. If Word can't find a Normal.dot on starting, it will create a new one. If it is this file that has become corupt, then this process may fix the problem.

Second, I'd check your default printer status and make sure that the correct printer is set as default, and that its default paper size is A4.

Thankyou Reggie. I found Normal.dot in Windows\Applications\Microsoft\Templates and as you suggested, re-naming it made a new one which has completely solved my problem. Thankyou once again. :)
