New HJT log for TeMerc...

in need of some major help...

I'm farely new at this whole thing but I have an issue with a virus I can't get rid of. My symantec virus protection detected the virus called a downloader and it tried to clean it and quarantine it but both failed. It is located in the windows/system32. It is the file cdoss50.dll which I have no idea what that is for. It's weird because it is next to the file cdosys.dll. I can't delete it myself so I'm not sure what to do. If anyone can help that would be sweet. Here is the hijackthis log which looks hebrew to me. Please help!

Info on cdosys.dll. This file looks to be legit, however the other does not.

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org , click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cdoss50.dll<<<--this file

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

Be patient as this site is usually very busy.

Also please submit the file to Norman Sandbox File Submission. A valid email is required but there is no worry as the site is fully trustful. They will send you back a details analysis of the file and please post contents of the analysis back here.

Reboot, into safe mode, this way:
Turn on the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the 'Show Hidden Folders' option, like this:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

And search for, then delete, if found, (some may not be present after previous steps) the following files/folders:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ss50.dll<<<--this file

To exit Safe Mode, click the Start button, click Turn Off Computer, click Restart.

Alright I did the first thing this morning as far as the virusscan.jotti thing goes and all I got was.....The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file.

I'll keep working on the rest later.

First I wanted to let you know what it said when I analyzed the file on virusscan.jotti. It said the file I uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file. I'm not sure what that means but I'm guessing you do. Anyways here is the hijackthis log. Thanks for your help again. Oh and I also tried going in safe mode and deleting the file and it said it could not delete the file because it was being used by another person or something so I'm not sure what the deal is.

here is what happened....

When I tried to delete the file in safe mode it said it was being used by another person so I could not delete it. I'll try fixing that stuff you mentioned in safe mode and see what happens then repost a new HJT log. Thanks man.

Ok, looks like we found where the lil buggers are hidding, lets exocise them, manually from the registry.

But lets first back up your registry.

Click the 'Start' button, seleect 'Run', hit 'Enter'.

When box appears, type 'regedit', hit 'Enter'.

Navigate to the following key, by unticking the '+' next to each subkey:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Browser Helper Objects\

In the right hand side of the window, look for:
44fce9b7-0b73-4e0c-aa40-e08bd01fef6c

Hi-lite it with your mouse, then right-click it and select 'delete' from the drop down menu.

Then also navigate to:
