    ANYBODY!

My Netscape 8.1 is crashing all the time saying "netscape.exe is unstable" or something to that effect. At 1st I thought it had something to do with an incompatibility issue at a site (Harmony-Central.com) that auto launches Windows Media everytime, but it doesn't render in NS8.1 even using the IE rendering machine. At 1st it would launch some message about Win Media after I would leave that site about a .dll that wouldn't play, then it would let me go on. Finally, I uninstalled both apps using CCleaner, and cleaned up any and all fragments that they may have left behind. Then I installed Win Media 1st with the thought that if I did that 1st that NS 8.1 would see it and "make friends" with it. NOT SO! NS8.1 crashed from almost the instant I launched it. I suppose there could be some registry entries that were missed that need to be deleted, but other than that, I don't have a clue how to fix it.

    Hep, Hep,:(

Netscape8.1 is bad. It is that simple, although what do you mean by "crashing "?
In my experience, NS8.1 has never started, without locking up before the home page was fully loaded. More often that not, after closing NS8.1, it will start fine.
I decided to compare NS8.1 with Firefox, especially looking at the top ten videos. I selected to use WMP. Both browsers launch WMP, and play fine. I did not notice any crash. There was a slight difference with Firefox in rendering the built-in player, which is based on WMP. since I have the MediaPlayerConnectivity extention, Firefox will launch the external player. There is no sound, as it is not in NS8.1.
although I have no faith in NS8.1, I can't see anything wrong with it, unless you can point to anything specific.
