Hello coleman and welcome to the Board :)

First, how much physical RAM (memory) is installed?

I would suggest that you go thru your startup programs, concentrating on 3rd party applications, especially any media app because of this message
I'm assuming that no disk is referring to a CD ROM drive.

Go to this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=39425 which references Startup program data bases (start with Taklist). The post will tell you how to bring up msconfig which lists your application startups.

    Regards - Charles

Right click on My Computer > Properties. You should see the window attached showing the computer details. Your format/colour will be different as I run XP in Classic (aka Win 98) mode without the eye candy :)

248 Mb RAM - this I feel is the root of the virtual memory problem. You have the absolute minimum amount of RAM for XP to run reasonably well despite what MS claim (64 Mb min - laughable). 512 Mb ahould make your computer much more responsive and eliminate the virtual memory messages.

Follow Charles' advice to eliminate unnecessary start up programs. A good program for controlling those programs which run from start up is Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel which allows you to disable/re-enable startup programs at will.
