I've looked and didn't see this addressed anywhere. The problem I'm having is that I can't have more than one window/page open at a time(I'm a bit computer illiterate, I hope that is descriptive enough.) In other words, say I'm on a message board, and wish to look up something in an online dictionary, if I minimize the original page, and open a new one, the original just disappears (no error message or anything). Same thing happens if I click on a link contained in something I'm reading, the original page just goes away, as if I hit the close button/X. Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't knowingly done anything (course my children may have) but it seems as if there should be a simple solution.

I just noticed this within the last week. I've had as many as 6 or 7 windows open before with no problem, but now I can't have more than 1.

I would appreciate any help anyone could give.

    Thank you;)

    p.s. I'm using windows xp

    Mudcat50,
    welcome to WindowsBBS ... :) ... !

I went google on "only one Internet Explorer Window " and the first few hits indicate that Yahoo toolbar may be the culprit. Yahoo toolbar is often bundled with other installations, downloaded from the web.

Did you (or the kids) install new applications recently?

I agree with Christer. Yahoo Toolbar seems to be somewhat notorius for causing this. If you have it you can uninstall it in add>remove programs or just disable it in IE's add-ons in the options. Tools>internet options>programs>manage add-ons. If it's not there, look for Yahoo Companion.

Christer........you're a genius!!! That's exactly what it was. And once I mentioned it to my son...well, HER son...lol...he knew immediately. He had set up something with yahoo photos, and remembered that it installed yahoo toolbar. He even remembered others having problems because of the toolbar...lol...wish he had thought of that beforehand.

Thank you ever so much

    Problem solved!!!!:D

    Mudcat50,
    you're welcome ... :) ... !

Me, a genius, not really but for some reason I have always stayed away from Yahoo Toolbar. I have told my friends to deny YT when it is bundled with downloads and now ... ;) ... I even know why!
