I recently switched to DSL internet. In doing so, I had to install an Ethernet adapter. Ever since I installed this adapter, when I pass the mouse over the destktop icons, these icons flicker wildly and jump around, changing position. This makes it difficult to open a program from the desk top, but mainly it just plain baffling!

I do not know for sure but I believe that on the old BB this problem was due to a Virus. But darned if I can remember which one.

I hope AND PRAY that when you went to DSL that you installed and run CONSTANTLY an UP TO DATE Anti-Virus program. And have it checking your E-mail.

Also a Firewall is good to have also.

There are a couple of variants on a virus that will do what you're describing:

    W32.Magistr.39921@mm

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.magistr.39921@mm.html

    W32.Magistr.24876@mm

Your system's probably been infected for quite a while.

Thank you very much for your reply. It was indeed a virus, the same one you mentioned. I had anti-virus software but it needed to be upgraded. I signed up for on-line anti-virus protection and have it running. It cleaned up my infected files and not only solved my problem, but improved the overall performance of my computer.

Yep, keeping your AV program up-to-date is pretty important. Glad you were able to get rid of the virus :D
