I have software to compress pictures for email. I also have winzip. How do I just make a bmp smaller, so that I can upload to use in a BBS post for example.

    Image Resizer
This free PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

Alicia J--Unless high resolution is important (such as using the image for enlargement), create the image as a .jpg instead as a .bmp. Perhaps the image file is now small enough to be sent and will not require any further compression?

I tried Image resizer. Nice and easy.

I'll check out the irfanview too.

Thanks Welshjim for your info on JPEG. I didn't know about the file size difference saving in jpeg vs bmp.

Thanks everyone for the info and links.

    Alicia J--You are welcome.
Do try Irfanview. For a free program, it has fantastic capability to manipulate images. With time you will come to appreciate that.
Here is a tutorial to help you at the beginning.

I've used Infranview and really like it. I have a vinyl cutting machine and I use that program when I scan business cards or when I set up something in a program that I am familiar with. I copy it to Infranview and my cutting program for my vinyl machine can easily read it and I don't have to re-do all of it all over again after the transfer.
