I can`t get it stopped. Where am I going astray. I`d list all the fixes I`ve tried but it would take a while . I wonder what I`m missing!

I just now discovered, the computer on start up, auto connects to the internet, but it doesn`t go to any web location ,not OE,IE or anywhere . It just connects.I also neglected to say I`m on Dial up only.

Do you have any programs set to autoupdate - such as Counterspy - which are set to connect if there is no connection or connect a boot?

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections 'Always dial my default connection' - is that set?

yeah, Pete it`s checked. I Googled up a step by step to disable it in the registry but it wasn`t enabled. I`ve been wanting to try Mozilla, I think I`ll download it. Maybe that will obliterate it.
Really It`s no big deal it`s just the Idea that I don`t want the autoconnect on boot!!

How about Never dial a connection? Have you tried opening up your setup for your connection to your ISP and looked in there?

    Mr. Bill,
I swear I tried that in the earlier stages of this ordeal and it didn`t help. I just now tried it (again?) and everything seems to be OK. I`ll post back if that snake rears it`s ugly head again.
    Thanks to all,
    Moore

Sometimes stranger things happen if you know what I mean. I have done things and done things and then look and oh well maybe I didn't do it. Getting old is terrible...lol
